Unpacking The System

The Limulus system may arrive in a double cardboard shipping box or on a mini-pallet.

It is best to have two people unpack the system. It weighs approximately 60 pounds (27 kilograms). Once the system is unpacked and standing upright on the castors, remove all packaging from the inside of the system. This material can be accessed by opening the side door with the window. Next, perform the following steps:

  1. Check for any damage or loose parts. If you find any damage, contact Limulus Computing.
  2. Check to make sure all SATA connectors are in place. If you find a disconnected or dangling cable and do not know where it should be connected, contact Limulus Computing. Do not attempt to start the system until all cables are properly seated.
  3. Check to make sure all the removable drives are seated. This can be done by gently pushing on the drives to make sure they are “full in.” If any of the drives have fully “popped out” push them back in, and secure the latch.

System Placement and Electrical Requirements

The system should be placed in an office or lab environment where temperatures are controlled (i.e. an air conditioned area). Do not block the air intake on the bottom or the exhaust fan vent on the back of the case.

Under load the system will use less than 650 watts of power. It can be plugged into a shared standard residential/office outlet provided the Limulus system and any other devices do not exceed the line wattage rating.

First Power-up

Attach a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and LAN cable to the back of the system (these locations are labeled). Plug the power cord into the wall. Check to make sure the power-supply switch is in the “on” position. Press the large round button on the top/front of the case. The main system board should start up.

First Login

Depending on your Limulus model, more essential information can be found on the following pages. It is highly recommended that this information be reviewed before using the system:

System Support

All systems come with initial support (one year hardware, 90-day software). During this period, you may send email to or you may request an account on the Limulus Computing Q&A Page. Full access to the Systems Manual is provided for one year unless additional support is purchased.

Additional support is available:

Extra Components

We have tried to minimize the amount of extra hardware shipped with the system. We have included the following, which may be helpful in the future.

  • motherboard and other manuals
  • extra power supply cables
  • extra SATA cables
  • extra filler plates
  • any keys for lockable drives

If you need any other extra case parts, contact Limulus Computing. We will gladly ship any needed parts that came standard with the case.
